We are a small group of people with over 50 years tour operating experience between us. We have operated travel projects to almost every part of the world and we know the good parts and the pitfalls. We like what we do and we think we are very good at it. Our experience has ranged from small groups through to weekly departures on full charter flights and one-off projects with groups of over 800 passengers. The astronomy projects are devised by Brian McGee who, as founder of Explorers Travel, has operated astronomy tours to almost every total solar eclipse and numerous other astronomical events since 1979. Operational requirements for the projects are in the hands of Wendy Page, another familiar name in the world of astronomy holidays, Wendy has been at the sharp end of many very adventurous projects over the past couple of decades and Wendy gets it right! |

We can proudly announce that Dr Francisco Diego, Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Physics and Astronomy University College London, vice president of the UK Association for Astronomy Education and a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society – will be joining us in Cairns to provide lectures and insight to the eclipse viewing. Dr Diego has a wealth of experience not only in lecturing, but also television, print media and his own UCL festival of Astronomy in providing explanation, expert opinion and critical analysis in an accessible format. We are delighted to welcome someone of such experience and pedigree onto the tour, and his contributions will ensure an unforgettable expedition. |

ATOL – Astro Trails flight inclusive tour programmes are all protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 10412. Under the government backed ATOL scheme you are guaranteed that you can continue your holiday and will not be stranded abroad in the event of the failure of your tour operator, or you will receive a refund of any payments you have made if you have not started your holiday. When you book with us we will issue you with a formal ATOL receipt which you should retain carefully as it is your guarantee. |

ABTOT – The ATOL scheme is not available to you if you wish to arrange your own flights, therefore we have made special arrangements with ABTOT to provide a similar guarantee. This is an insurance backed scheme, which was set up to cover non-flight inclusive holidays. It ensures all resort and travelling costs are covered by the policy and will be paid in the event of failure of the operator or you will be provided with a refund if you have not started your holiday. The ABTOT guarantee does not provide cover against the failure of an airline with which you have booked your flights. |
Tour Operator Insurance – All Astro Trails programmes are covered by our Tour Operator Liability Insurance as required by the Package Travel Regulations.
