Highlights: San Antonio, Eclipse (Waco)
Includes: See below Day 7 of itinerary for full details of all inclusions
Day 1 (4 April 2024) - Arrival in San Antonio Texas
Arrive in San Antonio, your base for the next three nights. San Antonio is situated at the headwaters of the San Antonio River on the Balcones Escarpment. It is known for the San Antonio Spurs, the Alamo, great Tex-Mex food, the River Walk, a notable heavy metal and hardcore music scene, SeaWorld, its sizable military presence, and Cornerstone Church.
Days 2 and 3 - Enjoy San Antonio with optional excursions available
San Antonio is a major city in south-central Texas with a rich colonial heritage. The Alamo, an 18th-century Spanish mission preserved as a museum, marks an infamous 1836 battle for Texan independence from Mexico. Following the San Antonio River, the miles-long River Walk is a landmark pedestrian promenade lined with cafes and shops. HemisFair Park’s 750-ft Tower of the Americas overlooks the city.
Days 4 - Travel by coach to Waco, our base for the eclipse
Travel by coach to Waco for the next two nights’ accommodation. Waco lies along the Brazos River, which runs directly through the city. It is home to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum which traces the history of the state law enforcement agency and displays vintage badges and weapons. The Dr Pepper Museum pays homage to the famed, locally invented soft drink and the Waco Mammoth National Monument is a fossil site which is home to the bones of Columbian mammoths.
Day 5 - Eclipse Day
Whilst we will have a base for the group, today you are free to view the eclipse from a place of your choice. Return after the eclipse for your last overnight in Waco.
Day 6 - Return by coach to San Antonio
Return by coach to San Antonio for your last night of the tour. *Travel onward to Dallas for your final night if you are joining the USA Southwest Special Extension Tour
Day 7 (10th April 2024) - Join your return flight or perhaps extend your stay
Today is the last day of the tour. Join your return flight unless you have chosen to extend your stay and travel on the USA Southwest Special Extension Tour with us and visit some of the wonders of New Mexico and Arizona (click here for details).
