Project Antarctica - Total Solar Eclipse - December 2021
The logistic difficulties in observing the total solar eclipse in December 2021 means this privilege will be limited to very few people, however we are able to offer an expedition which combines being well placed to observe the event, a high level of comfort on the luxury expedition ship the Silver Wind and an exciting programme of shore landings by a fleet of Zodiacs in Antarctica.
The cruise will now embark and disembark from Punta Arenas and private charter flights will be provided from and to Santiago to ensure a safe 'travel bubble'. In addition to the eclipse, the itinerary offers rare visits to the wildlife rich South Georgia Islands and to the Antarctic Peninsula.
Recently fully upgraded, the potential 22 knot speed of the Silver Wind ship will assist in positioning for observation of the eclipse.
Silversea operates as an all-inclusive cruise line, with items included such as shore excursions, crew gratuities, a good range of alcoholic drinks including wine and premium spirits, and open-seated dining options in the restaurants. Cuisine standards are very high and on this cruise the vessel will be limited to 60% capacity, allowing for generous space in all parts of the ship.
