Day 1 (28th July 2027) - Arrival into Cairo

Arrive in Cairo, for a one-night stay. Cairo, Egypt's sprawling capital along the Nile River, is a vibrant blend of ancient and modern influences. Renowned for the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx, it reflects a profound Pharaonic legacy. The city’s bustling markets, historic mosques, and contemporary life create a dynamic metropolis that enchants visitors with its timeless charm and energy.

We have the following PRE Tour Extension available for this tour:-

PRE-TOUR CAIRO ANTIQUITIES EXTENSION (starting 25th July 2027) - see the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum - details can be found via the link here.

Day 2 (29th July 2027) - Fly to Luxor (B)

Today fly to Luxor for a six-night stay at the Jolie Ville Resort. Luxor is the site of ancient Thebes, on the East bank of the Nile - the pharaoh's capital at the height of their power. Described as the world's greatest open-air museum, nothing in the world compares to the scale and grandeur of the monuments that have survived in this ancient city.

Day 3 (30th July 2027) - West Bank sightseeing:  Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon (B)

Today visit the West Bank of Luxor, stopping en route to see the towering Colossi of Memnon. Explore the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari. The Valley of the Kings contains the rock-cut tombs of 62 of ancient Egypt’s rulers and houses the famous tomb of Tutankhamun amongst others. There will be a chance to take an optional sunset felucca ride along the Nile later this afternoon.

Day 4 (31st July 2027) - East Bank sightseeing: Luxor and Karnak Temples (B)

Today visit Luxor and Karnak Temples on the East Bank of the Nile at Luxor. Luxor Temple is largely the work of Amenhotep III and Ramesses II the Great (whose colossi and obelisk stand at the entrance) and is also home to the small 'hanging' Mosque of Abu al-Haggag. The vast Karnak Temple complex comprises of an extensive mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons, and other buildings. Its construction began during the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom and continued into the Ptolemaic period, although most of the extant buildings date from the New Kingdom. Perhaps return to Karnak Temple again this evening for the optional Sound and Light show excursion.

Day 5 (1st August 2027) - Day at leisure in Luxor with optional excursions available (B)

A day at leisure in Luxor to enjoy the sights and sounds of this fascinating city. In Arabic Luxor means 'The Palaces' and during ancient times it was known as 'The City of Hundred Doors'. Idyllically located on the banks of the Nile, Luxor is truly unique with one of a kind archaeological attractions located all over the city, earning it the title of World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979.  Planned optional excursions today include a visit to Dendera and Abydos and a hot air balloon ride.

Day 6 (2nd August 2027) - Eclipse Day (B)

Today is a very special eclipse day - for some a once in a lifetime experience. The maximum duration of totality will be observed in Egypt, approximately 37 miles (60 km) southeast of Luxor in the desert and will last 6 minutes and 23 seconds. Astro Trails observation will be from the comfort of the Jolie Ville Resort and the duration here is 6 minutes and 18 seconds (lunar limb corrected).

Day 7 (3rd August 2027) - Day at leisure with optional tour to Abu Simbel available (B)

Today spend a further day exploring the fascinating city of Luxor or fly into southern Nubia on a planned optional excursion to visit the massive rock cut tombs from the reign of Ramesses II at Abu Simbel. Abu Simbel is an incredible sight to behold, but one that if history had gone just a little bit differently, would not be here today. Instead, this temple would be under the lake’s waters. Thanks to a massive feat of engineering the temples sit proudly on the banks of Lake Nassar.

Day 8 (4th August 2027) - By road to Aswan for an overnight stay (B)

Today travel to Aswan for an overnight stay.  Follow the course of the Nile by road through numerous villages, observing scenes of daily life.  Aswan is a picturesque, slow-paced, historic place located on the northern end of the First Cataract of the Nile.  It marks ancient Egypt's southern frontier and has always been of great strategic importance.  Perhaps take an optional excursion this evening to the sound and light show at Philae Temple.

Day 9 (5th August 2027) - Morning at leisure in Aswan with optional excursion available. Board your Nile Cruise (B, D)

A chance this morning to relax and take in the sites or perhaps join an optional excursion to the Monastery of St Simeon before boarding your Nile cruise vessel.   This afternoon take a felucca ride around Elephantine and Kitchener Island.  Overnight onboard your full board cruise.

Day 10 (6th August 2027) - Visit High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk, Philae and Kom Ombo Temples. Sail to Edfu (B, L, D)

This morning visit Philae Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk, the largest known ancient obelisk located in the stone quarries of Aswan. Philae in Greek or Pilak in ancient Egyptian, meaning ‘the end,’ defined the southernmost limit of Egypt. The temple at Philae was nearly lost underwater when the high Aswan dam was built in the 1960s but fortunately the temple was rescued by a joint operation between the Egyptian government and UNESCO and relocated on the Island of Agilika.  Set sail from Aswan and visit Kom Ombo Temple, an unusual temple dedicated to two deities - Sobek and Horus. Continue on to Edfu this evening.

Day 11 (7th August 2027) - Visit Edfu. Sail to Luxor (B, L, D)

Edfu was a flourishing Greek city in ancient times, commonly known as Apollinopolis Magna, after the chief God Horus-Apollo. Here visit Edfu Temple, the Temple of Horus, considered to be the best-preserved temple in Egypt. Sail onwards tonight to Luxor.

Day 12 (8th August 2027) - Disembark your cruise boat in Luxor and fly to Cairo (B)

Today disembark the Cruise in Luxor and join return flight to Cairo for the last night on the tour. Spend one last night in the vibrant, bustling city of Cairo.

Day 13 (9th August 2027) - Last day of the tour or perhaps extend your stay (B)

Today is the last day of the tour. Join your return flight home unless you have chosen to extend your stay in Cairo.
