This GROUP POST Tour Extension adds onto Red Sea Eclipse and Siwa Oasis Eclipse Main Tours (but can be arranged on a private basis on request)
Day 1 - Fy from Cairo to Luxor
Today, leave the main eclipse group tour in Cairo and fly to Luxor for a four-night stay. Luxor is the site of ancient Thebes, on the East bank of the Nile - the pharaoh's capital at the height of their power. Described as the world's greatest open-air museum, nothing in the world compares to the scale and grandeur of the monuments that have survived in this ancient city.
Day 2 - West Bank sightseeing (Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon)
Today visit the West Bank of Luxor, stopping en route to see the towering Colossi of Memnon. Explore the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari. The Valley of the Kings contains the rock-cut tombs of 62 of ancient Egypt’s rulers and houses the famous tomb of Tutankhamun amongst others. There will be a chance to take an optional sunset felucca ride along the Nile later this afternoon.
Day 3 - East Bank sightseeing (Luxor and Karnak Temples)
Today visit Luxor and Karnak Temples on the East Bank of the Nile at Luxor. Luxor Temple is largely the work of Amenhotep III and Ramesses II the Great (whose colossi and obelisk stand at the entrance) and is also home to the small 'hanging' Mosque of Abu al-Haggag. The vast Karnak Temple complex comprises of an extensive mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons, and other buildings. Its construction began during the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom and continued into the Ptolemaic period, although most of the extant buildings date from the New Kingdom. Perhaps return to Karnak Temple again this evening for the optional Sound and Light show excursion.
Day 4 - Day at leisure in Luxor with optional excursions available
A day at leisure in Luxor to enjoy the sights and sounds of this fascinating city. In Arabic Luxor means 'The Palaces' and during ancient times it was known as 'The City of Hundred Doors'. Idyllically located on the banks of the Nile, Luxor is truly unique with one of a kind archaeological attractions located all over the city, earning it the title of World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. Planned optional excursions today include a visit to Dendera and Abydos and a hot air balloon ride.
Day 5 - Fly back to Cairo
Today join your return flight to Cairo for the last night on the tour. Spend one last night in this vibrant, bustling city.

Day 6 - Last day of the tour or perhaps extend your stay
Today is the last day of the tour. Join your return flight home unless you have chosen to extend your stay in Cairo.
