Day 1 (16th July 2028) - Arrival into Darwin

Arrive in Darwin for a two-night stay.  Darwin is known as the tropical "Top End" capital, famous for its dramatic saltwater crocodiles, vibrant Asian-influenced food markets, and proximity to Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks. It is a laid-back, multicultural city known for its "larrikin" (irreverent) spirit, stunning sunset harbour cruises, and significant military history.  ​​​

Day 2 (17th July 2028) - Day at leisure in Darwin with optional excursions available (B)

A day at leisure in Darwin which offers a vibrant tropical experience.  Enjoy wildlife encounters at Crocosaurus Cove, experience stunning sunsets at Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, enjoy unique history at the WWII Oil Storage Tunnels or perhaps explore the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens or the Darwin Waterfront Precinct.  Planned optional excursions today include a Darwin City Tour and a Darwin Dinner Cruise.

 

Day 3 (18th July 2028) - Travel by coach to Kakadu via Ubirr Rock (B, D)

Today travel by coach along the Arnhem, which links the Stuart Highway (35 km south of Darwin) to Jabiru and Kakadu National Park.  En route stops include a Jumping Crocodile Cruise and a stop at Ubirr Rock to see Aboriginal Rock Art and views over the Arnhem Land escarpment.  Arrive in Kakadu where you will spend an overnight in the heart of the National Park. A chance to join an optional Yellow Water Cruise this afternoon.

Day 4 (19th July 2028) - Travel by coach to Katherine (B)

Continue by coach to Katherine for a one-night stay, visiting Warrajan Cultural Centre en route.  Katherine is a vibrant regional hub known as the 'Crossroads of the North' where the outback meets the tropics. Situated on the Katherine River, it serves as a gateway to the spectacular Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge), offering stunning gorges, thermal hot springs, and rich indigenous culture. A chance this evening to enjoy an optional Sunset Dinner Cruise.

Day 5 (20th July 2028) - Travel by coach to Lake Argyle (B, D)

Today travel along the Victoria Highway via Kununurra to Lake Argyle. This dramatic scenic drive passes through rugged escarpment country, the Victoria River crossing, and near Keep River National Park. It also features a notable border crossing check when you cross into Western Australia. Arrive in Lake Argyle where you will spend the next three nights at Discovery Resorts Lake Argyle.

Day 6 (21st July 2028) - Day at leisure in Lake Argyle with optional excursion available (B, L, D)

Lake Argyle is Australia's second-largest man-made freshwater reservoir, which was created by damming the Ord River in 1971.  This vast 'inland sea' is surrounded by rugged red mountain ranges, offering scenic cruises, fishing, kayaking, and your resort features a famous infinity pool.  Spend time today at leisure or perhaps enjoy an optional cruise with lunch, observing the bays and inlets of Lake Argyle, the Main Ord Dam site and Ord River Gorge.

Day 7 (22nd July 2028) - Eclipse Day (B, L, D)

Today is eclipse day!  The maximum duration of totality from your Lake Argyle Resort will be 4 minutes and 13.3 seconds (lunar limb corrected).  For those that want to try and get closer to the centreline, we plan to try and get you there!  Whether that be an early morning drive towards Doon Doon Station (175km from Lake Argyle) or heading to a spot on the shores of Lake Argyle (permissions and weather allowing).

 

Day 8 (23rd July 2028) - Fly to Darwin (B)

Travel by road to Kununurra and fly to Darwin for your last night of the tour.

Day 9 (24th July 2028) - Last day of the tour or perhaps extend your stay (B)

Today is the last day of the tour. Join your return flight home. Unless you have chosen to extend your stay.

Twin / Double room – GB£5,215 / US$6,950 per person

Single Room Supplement – GB£2,545 / US$3,395

 

For single travellers, we are usually able to arrange shared accommodation with a person of the same gender – this is known as ’twin share’ accommodation. Choose the share twin room option (male or female) on the booking form.

*Costings are based on prices from January 2026. All bookings on our projects are governed by our Terms and Conditions.​ The AUD conversion Rate of Exchange used in this project is 2.00 for GBP prices and 1.5 for USD prices. ​​

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN MY TOUR?

• Accommodation on the tour from check-in on Day 1 (usually around 3pm) to check-out (usually around 10am) on the final day of the tour. 

• Daily meal plan as outlined in the above tour summary. B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner

• All transfers, transportation, flights, trains, and local excursions as outlined in the itinerary (if applicable).

• All local excursions outlined in the tour summary (if applicable) unless it is specified as an ‘Optional Excursion’ which is offered at extra cost.​​​

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED IN MY TOUR?

• Optional Excursions mentioned in the tour are offered closer to the tour departure date (approximately 9 months prior to the tour departure).

• International flights to/from Australia. Our flight partner, Star Travel UK, can assist with an international flight quote approximately 11 months in advance of the tour departure.

• Additional pre or post hotel nights outside the tour dates.  If required these can be requested at booking stage, with costs being advised approximately 9 months prior to the tour departure.

• Porterage, gratuities, and tips.

• Travel Insurance.​
