Day 1 (2nd August 2026) - Arrival in Barcelona (B)

Arrive in Barcelona and spend the next two nights in the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, famous for its art and architecture. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and famous for Gaudi and other Art Nouveau architecture, Barcelona is one of Europe’s trendiest cities.

 

Day 2 (3rd August 2026) - Day at leisure in Barcelona with optional excursions available (B)

Barcelona's architectural treasures span more than 2000 years and provide a window into Roman-era Barcino. Take a stroll through the shadowy lanes of the Gothic quarter, past tranquil plazas and soaring 14th-century cathedrals. In other parts of town view the sculptural masterpieces of Modernism - a mix of ingenious and whimsical creations by Gaudi and his Catalan architectural contemporaries.

 

Day 3 (4th August 2026) - Travel by train to Spain's third largest city Valencia (B)

This afternoon take the train to the port city of Valencia for a two night stay. Valencia is known for its City of Arts and Sciences, with futuristic structures including a planetarium, an oceanarium and an interactive museum. Valencia also has several beaches, including some within nearby Albufera Park, a wetlands reserve with a lake and walking trails.

 

Day 4 (5th August 2026) - Day at leisure in Valencia with optional excursions available (B)

Valencia brings together historic and modern culture. In the old town (El Carmen) you will find a gothic cathedral, a modernist food market and a Rococo palace all in easy walking distance of each other. Valencia offers history, modernity, nature, epicurean delights, and entertainment. There are also the beaches of the city of Valencia, just a stone's throw from the centre and its many attractions.

 

Day 5 (6th August 2026) - Travel by coach to the Andalusia city of Córdoba (B)

Today travel across the Sierra de Andujar to the beautiful City of Flowers, Córdoba for an overnight stay. This city is famous around the world for its Great Mosque. Its historic old town is a World Heritage site, full of little streets to be explored, courtyards full of flowers, inviting squares and lively taverns where you can enjoy a good flamenco performance or try the local cuisine.

 

Day 6 (7th August 2026) - Join an optional city tour before continuing on to the capital of Andalucía, Seville (B)

Today spend the morning at leisure or join an optional city tour, before travelling on to the city of Carmen, Don Juan and Figaro, Seville, for a two-night stay. According to legend, Sevilla was founded by Hercules and its origins are linked with the Tartessian civilisation. This southern Spanish capital is famous for its historic churches and palaces, Moorish buildings, flamenco dancing, and more. Whether you're interested in tapas or history, there's no chance you'll get bored in this Andalusian city.

 

Day 7 (8th August 2026) - Day at leisure in Seville with optional excursions available (B)

Spend time today exploring this 'bijou' city with a history dating back 2,200 years, whose fabulous food, extraordinary Mudejar, Gothic and Renaissance architecture, and exotic flamenco rhythms never fail to charm and seduce. History oozes through its very pores, with ancient Moorish walls, Roman ruins and Baroque churches at every turn.

 

Day 8 (9th August 2026) - Travel by train to Spain's central capital Madrid (B)

Today take the train to Madrid, a city of elegant boulevards and expansive, manicured parks such as the Buen Retiro. Madrid is renowned for its rich repositories of European art, including the Prado Museum’s works by Goya, Velázquez and other Spanish masters. The heart of old Hapsburg Madrid is the portico-lined Plaza Mayor, and nearby is the baroque Royal Palace and Armory, displaying historic weaponry.

 

Day 9 (10th August 2026) - Join an optional city tour before continuing by coach to Siguenza Castle (B, D)

Morning at leisure or join an optional excursion. Vibrant at all hours, Madrid is famous for being an open city with all kinds of people from anywhere in the world. Famous for its museums, busy streets dotted with all kinds of shops and restaurants with world cuisine.  This afternoon we travel by coach to Sigüenza, a city in Guadalajara, central Spain known for its centuries-old architecture, including Sigüenza Castle where you will stay for the next three-nights.

 

Day 10 (11th August 2026) - Day at leisure in Siguenza with optional excursions available (B, D)

Day at leisure in Sigüenza to explore the beautiful city. The main sights to see are the castle, cathedral and the Plaza Mayor square.  Wander the streets of Sigüenza which are full of exceptionally attractive civil and religious buildings.  

 

Day 11 (12th August 2026) - Eclipse Day – Siguenza Castle (B, L)

Today we observe the Eclipse from Sigüenza Castle.  A leisurely afternoon buffet lunch will be provided at the castle.  Your final night of the tour is sure to be a memorable one!

 

Day 12 (13th August 2026) - Morning transfer to Madrid to join your return flight or perhaps extend your stay (B)

Today is the last day of the tour.  The transfer will arrive back at Madrid airport by 12 noon where you can join your return flight or perhaps extend your stay.

For single travellers, we are usually able to arrange shared accommodation with a person of the same gender – this is known as ’twin share’ accommodation. Please choose the ‘share twin room (male or female) option on the booking form.

  • International flights. Our flight partner, Star Travel UK, can assist with an international flight quote approximately 11 months in advance of the tour departure.

  • Additional nights outside the tour dates.  If required these can be requested at the booking stage, with costs being advised approximately 6 months prior to the tour departure.
